Everitt was a Dodgers draft pick in 1965 who spent most of his professional career in the minors (the former Spokane Indians of the Pacific Coast League). He was a pitcher and he never appeared for the Dodgers in a regular season game, but he did make several appearances for the San Diego Padres during their inaugural season (1969). But perhaps the most amazing thing about Everitt, who is now deceased and who hailed from Pemberton High School in Marshall, Texas, is that he was assigned jersey #42 , perhaps the most hallowed number in baseball history. I cannot be certain, but this may be either the last or second to last official Dodgers #42 jersey ever assigned by the Dodgers as the Dodgers retired the number in June 1972. The jersey itself is simply beautiful. It is made of grey flannel with the 100th MLB anniversary patch on the sleeve that was used in 1969. The numbers 42 are sewn in blue on the front and back. The name and year are sewn in the tail, along with Rawlings size 42 tag. The jersey shows medium to heavy game use spring training? The jersey was handed down to the Spokane Indians organization years ago.
