Offered is an exceptional 1966 Don Drysdale Los Angeles Dodgers professional model road game used jersey. Grey flannel jersey as worn by one member of the Dodgers’ iconic pitching duo of the 1950-60s era. 1966 was the last National League Championship season of Drysdale’s Hall of Fame career. It was a season which began in a joint hold-out by Drysdale and fellow ace Sandy Koufax, a sign of the increased bargaining power of top Major League players. Though poor run support would continue to plague Drysdale, he continued to throw fire, striking out 177. The front of the jersey retains its original “Los Angeles” team name in blue script along with “53” red felt numbering. Back displays number “53” in blue felt. Additional Dry Clean supplemental tag and “Set 1 1966″ flag tag found beneath. Jersey shows excellent use/wash wear including appropriate surface patination and a few small areas of disengagement of the felt numerals on front and back. Small repaired area above the “L” in Los Angeles as well and one button is missing. Drysdale remains one of the most revered MLB pitchers of the 1960s era and played a pivotal role in the Dodgers’ glory years of the period. Includes LOA from SGC/Dave Grob. Graded as Excellent/Very Good. Comes with the full book authenticating the jersey. Included in listing are some pictures from the book.
