Late 1970s game used jersey Ken Kravec Chicago White Sox LOA South Side Hitmen
Late 1970s game used jersey Ken Kravec Chicago White Sox LOA South Side Hitmen. One of the most unique if not polarizing styles of major league baseball jerseys ever designed, offered for sale is a late 1970s game used jersey of Chicago White Sox pitcher Ken Kravec, one of the members of the starting rotation for the 1977 South Side Hitmen. The jerseys were designed by owner Bill Veecks wife, Mary Frances Veeck, and were worn during Barnum Bills second ownership of the White Sox from 1976 to 1981. They have been called Veeck style jerseys, pajamas, and clam diggers among other names. These unique collared jerseys were infamously once worn with shorts. This Capital Ace blue mesh road jersey shows nice even game use / wear and will come with the original LOA. Size 42 and properly tagged. All letters and numbers are appliqued in fancy white blended twill. An all original gamer jersey from a White Sox star of that era. Kravec went 11-8 for the 1977 Southside Hitmen, won 11 more games in 1978 and had his best season in 1979 where he went 15-13 with a 3.74 ERA. Kravec led all White Sox pitchers in strikeouts from 197779. Kravec wore # 27 and when the Sox signed Hall Of Famer Carlton Fisk in December 1980 Fisk decided to switch his familiar number with the Red Sox #27 to #72.
