Up for sale is a holy grail item for modern collecting — a Mike Trout Angels Game Used 2016 MVP Season Bat with MLB Hologram (JB790802) & Anderson Authentics Hologram (2157) to authenticate use. As any modern collector knows, Mike Trout bats with a MLB hologram for use are extremely rare and valuable. This bat was used and cracked on September 19, 2016, and is photo matched to Trout’s RBI Triple in that game. There is a heavy coat of pine tar on the upper handle extending onto and above the Old Hickory label, which is still sticky. The photos with this listing include a photo match to Trout’s RBI Triple on 9/19/2016 in the 6th inning and the 8th inning ground out that was authenticated with the MLB hologram when the bat cracked. The bat’s length “33.5” is stamped into the barrel band along with the work order “1512458-MT10″ which is December 2015, work order 458, Trout’s initials and 10th bat in that order. Also, Trout’s initials “MT” and “10” for the bat order number have been hand written in pencil on the knob. Trout has signed the bat with his customary “16 G/U” inscription. Bat has a handle crack as shown in the picture but is held together and swings firmly with no issues, and the crack is also on the back side of the bat so does not show when displayed front facing. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern with green, black and white’Lizard Skin’ to enhance the grip. This is the coveted lizard skin grip that Mike Trout began using in September 2015. The bat is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from Anderson Athletics to authenticate use and Trout’s autograph, and their hologram is affixed to the barrel. A Mike Trout signature and the added inscription’16 G/U’ are on the front barrel in silver marker.
