Craig Biggio wore this Astros cap in 2002. Aside from being game-worn by a Hall of Famer, it is unique for several reasons. After his good friend Darryl Kile died in 1992 midseason, Biggio made this cap a tribute to Kile by writing his initials on the front and his number 57 on the rear. And inside, Biggio wrote D. The latter is a tribute to his. Friend and family priest, Monsignor James Jamail, who was dying of cancer. Initials written on this cap is photomatched to three baseball cards, which are included in this sale. As you can see from the photos above, the D. On this cap is identical to that in the card photos (note that two of the cards use the same photo). Baseball caps are usually the only item where a player can write personal or inspirational messages to themselves to take on the playing field, and Biggio’s sentiments are poignantly reflected in this cap. Biggio’s auto on the bill is authenticated by a full JSA LOA and Tristar holo 713167 (link to online cert below). His retired “7” is written under the bill. Hank Aaron was a first-ballot Hall of Famer inducted in 1982. The 25-time All-Star won a World Series Championship in 1957 and was the NL MVP in the same year. He led the NL in home runs four times and was named to the MLB All-Century Team. In 1974, Aaron hit home run No. 715 to break Babe Ruths career record. On the inside rear collar is a strip tag with 74 44 embroidered on it, along with a Wilson size 42 manufacturers tag with washing instructions. Across the chest reads Braves. Player number 44 appears on both the front and on the back. These are both done in blue on white tackle twill with a red-stitch border.
