Rare RON CLARK Oakland A's game used Worn Flannel Jersey Near Mint Condition
Offered here is a truly amazing jersey, an iconic style that is often recognized as a baseball classic. It’s an Oakland’s flannel vest jersey from 1971, and it’s certainly possible that this is the best game worn example in existence. The jersey is from McAuliffe, size 44, with the 1971 year tag in the tail, adjacent to the McAuliffe label. The mint green wool flannel is free of fading, tears, moth holes, or repairs, although there is appears to be a spot on the right front; affective however that I can’t tell for sure if that’s what it is. These jerseys are rarely available, but when they are they are usually found with the color faded to Gray with a slight green tent;nt as the pictures show, the green here remains very strong and virtually new in appearance. The numbers are equally good, kelly green on yellow, retaining their color and without loose threads. The green and yellow trim around the collar and the arm holes is equally sound. The reason, of course, why the jersey is such excellent condition is that Clark only played two games in 1971. As an infielder with the Pilots, Brewers, A’s, Phillies and Twins, Clark posted a career batting average that was well below the Mendoza line at. 189, with 5 career homers and 43 RBI, but he must’ve been doing something right, because he was an important part of the Western division champion Minnesota Twins in 1966, and he played for a world championship team with the A’s in 1972. He also spent 7 seasons in the big leagues, which is seven seasons more than most of us… Anyway, in 2 games for the A’s in 1971 he made 2 plate appearances, didn’t get a hit, and walked once, giving him a. 500 on base percentage. And that’s how it happens that a game used jersey is in nearly-perfect condition. If you’re a fan of flannels, or of the A’s, I think i’st safe to say that you will never find a better example of this significant version than this..
