1956 Hal Smith, Kansas City Athletics, Game Worn Home Flannel Jersey. Beautiful cream colored jersey trimmed in red & blue. “Athletics” on the front and “9” Smith’s number on the back and a great elephant embroidered patch on the left sleeve. On the bottom front tail is a strip tag “1956” and Wilson Size 42 tag. Overall condition is very good with some wear present and some light stains on the side and lower back area. Also some darker staining on the back collar. Smith had a long MLB career playing with Orioles, Athletics, Pirates, Houston Colt. 45’s and the Reds. He played 3rd base, Catcher, and 1st base. He would have been famous for his 3 run home run for the Pirates in the 1960 World Series in the bottom of the 8th vs. His homer gave the Pirates a 9-7 lead heading into the 9th inning. The Yankees rallied to score two runs in the top of the 9th to tie the score. The rest is history as Bill Mazeroski homered in the bottom of the 9th to win the World Series for the Pirates.
