1983 Pittsburgh Pirates Gold Game Worn Used Uniform Jose DeLeon Vargas Hendrick

This is for an original 1983 Pittsburgh Pirates gold game worn jersey along with a pair of black game used pants. The jersey was an original 1983 Jose DeLeon jersey when he wore number 25 for the Bucs. In 1984 the Pirates recycled the jersey with a number change to 50 for first baseman Eddie Vargas. With both DeLeon and Vargas being 6 4 along with 210 pounds, the jersey would be a perfect fit for both with DeLeon wearing the jersey in 1983 and then having the number changed for Vargas in 1984. The jersey has a strip tag with 25 83 1 embroidered on it for Jose DeLeons number (25) the year (83) along with the 1 for identifying the jersey has set 1. The is a Wilson size 44 tag sewn into the collar along with a word tapered curled and worn hanging from the label. The black pants were worn by George Hendrick in 1985 as the Rawlings label and flag tag will attest to. The size, 32 waist and 36 length were embroidered in the waist along with 1 85, for set one and the year 1985. I believe the word RICE written inside the pants was probably done for a minor leaguer when the pants were sent down to the minors for more use. Both the jersey and pants show nice light use and go perfectly together. The number 50 done on the jersey to replace to 25 on both the front and back were done perfectly by the team leaving no outline which is visible on the outside. Both pieces together make an incredible display piece to show off a rare 1980s example of one of their gold uniform combos. I was a big Jose DeLeon fan in the 1980s and felt sure he would be the next great fireballer. He had the stuff to strike out 19 in a game or throw a no hitter on any given day. Get this incredible ensemble before its gone because there wont be too many more coming around in the near future. The jersey is a game worn by Rich Rhoden, RHP, the Pirates top starting pitcher. The jersey is made by Decenete (Japan) a black mesh knit pullover, size 44, and all lettering and numbers sewn onto the jersey. The name plate is original and was resewn. It’s tagged 29 44x 84, represent the Rhoden’s number, the size (best guess on the “x” could be added length), and the year. No rips or tears on the jersey. The pants are gold road model worn or assigned to Chris Green, a pitcher. The pants are made by Wilson, a size 36 waist, and tagged 35 84 26 (Player’s number, year, and inseam). They are pretty clean pants, no rips and or tears, and drawstring is intact. The cap is a gold pinstriped cap, worn when wearing the black tops. Here offered is a authentic and 100% original vintage 1971-72 Pittsburgh Pirates, home white, game used jersey worn by veteran right handed pitcher, Bob Johnson. As with all Pirates jerseys from this era, this Rawlings, Size 44 exhibits solid game wear in part from being passed through the minor leagues. Fortunately, this one was pulled early and did not experience the type of abuse most of them received. Still a solid white and with good mustard and black colors on Pirates and #’s 27. On the back between the numbers there is one small hole. On the left shoulder there are faint visual markings from the club house clubby using a clothes hanger to dry his gear. Fully tagged in tail. This vintage knit would compliment and be a welcome addition to any Pirates or 1970’s gamer collection. Thanks for looking and good luck.
