Endearing himself to the Flushing faithful, Hall of Famer Gary Carter launched a 10th inning walk-off home run as the Mets triumphed over St. Louis in the 1985 season opener. The shot set the precedent for a season in which the newly acquired Carter hit a career-best 32 round-trippers. This batting practice jersey was worn and signed by Carter during his inaugural season in Queens. The blue mesh garment features twill identifiers, Rawlings tagging and a black marker autograph. Full photo LOA from Dave Miedema. The blue mesh pullover garment features a script-style Mets angled across the chest in orange-on-white twill and 8 sewn to the back and left front in like fashion. Executed in black marker on the middle horizontal portion of the back 8, Carters black marker autograph projects strength and clarity. Orange-and-white striped stretch ribbed knit lines the V-neck and sleeve endings, while the collars interior is home to a Rawlings size 44 label. All original with no repairs or alterations, the Flushing gamer shows moderate wear.
