These 1977 Rangers jerseys are incredibly hard to find. It was in rough shape so I had the jersey restored by renowned restoration master, Lon Lewis. Before it was restored, here’s what I found out about the jersey. The Rawlings tag on this jersey says that it was number 16 but I can’t see any other number than 15 on the jersey… And Washington is the only name that I can see on the back (outline). The dark spots around the lettering are small holes where the letters were removed. You can also see a little black material under the left sleeve where the black armband was… You can also see where the number 4 was on the left sleeve. It’s odd too that the 1 and the 5 are different colors (from fading) on the back… I can’t see that there was ever a number change. The front lettering has had a few repairs made over the years and is clearly visible when looking at the jersey turned inside-out. The restoration consisted of replacing the numbers on the back, restoring WASHINGTON on the back, restoring the 4 and black stripe on the left sleeve and replacing the TEXAS script on the front chest. The jersey is on Facebook too if you’re interested. It comes with the letter from Lon stating what he did in detail. The small holes on the back around WASHINGTON have been sewn up nicely and the jersey displays incredibly well. I paid 255 for the jersey and then 115 for the restoration so I have 370 total in the jersey. Thank you and good luck!
