This is for an original 1983 Pittsburgh Pirates gold game worn jersey along with a pair of black game used pants. The jersey was an original 1983 Jose DeLeon jersey when he wore number 25 for the Bucs. In 1984 the Pirates recycled the jersey with a number change to 50 for first baseman Eddie Vargas. With both DeLeon and Vargas being 6 4 along with 210 pounds, the jersey would be a perfect fit for both with DeLeon wearing the jersey in 1983 and then having the number changed for Vargas in 1984. The jersey has a strip tag with 25 83 1 embroidered on it for Jose DeLeons number (25) the year (83) along with the 1 for identifying the jersey has set 1. The is a Wilson size 44 tag sewn into the collar along with a word tapered curled and worn hanging from the label. The black pants were worn by George Hendrick in 1985 as the Rawlings label and flag tag will attest to. The size, 32 waist and 36 length were embroidered in the waist along with 1 85, for set one and the year 1985. I believe the word RICE written inside the pants was probably done for a minor leaguer when the pants were sent down to the minors for more use. Both the jersey and pants show nice light use and go perfectly together. The number 50 done on the jersey to replace to 25 on both the front and back were done perfectly by the team leaving no outline which is visible on the outside. Both pieces together make an incredible display piece to show off a rare 1980s example of one of their gold uniform combos. I was a big Jose DeLeon fan in the 1980s and felt sure he would be the next great fireballer. He had the stuff to strike out 19 in a game or throw a no hitter on any given day. Get this incredible ensemble before its gone because there wont be too many more coming around in the near future.
