1976 Andre Thornton & Jerry Tabb Worn Chicago Cubs Jersey with Chicago Bicentennial Patch & Black Armband. Home white knit features blue pinstripes, a large embroidered Cubs disc patch over the left chest, “12” on the verso in light blue tackle twill, and blue trim around the v-neck collar and sleeve cuffs. Tags include “Wilson 44, ” “12 76 1 44′” and 76. Best on all are the 1976 Chicago bi-centennial patch and a black armband, both of which are prominently displayed on the left sleeve. The black armband suggests secondary wear during the 1977 season, as team owner Philip K. Wrigley passed away in April of that year. The jersey was worn first by Andre Thornton, a two-time All-Star with the Indians, and then by Jerry Tabb, a journeyman first baseman and pinch hitter, who was brought up after Thornton was traded in May. This specimen exhibits wonderful wear. LOA from Heritage Auctions. The item “1976-77 Andres Thornton & Jerry Tabb Chicago Cubs game worn jersey withrare patch” is in sale since Monday, July 13, 2020.
