LOUIS CARDINALS GAME USED / GAME WORN POWDER BLUE ROAD JERSEY. WORN BY PITCHER STEVE BUSBY # 60 AND OTHER PLAYERS. PROPERLY TAGGED, SHOWS HEAVY WEAR; A VERY SOUGHT-AFTER STYLE. Louis Cardinals organization in 1979. While it is unclear who wore it when it was first issued to the team, it is clear that it was later repurposed to be a road jersey for pitcher Steve Busby to be worn during the 1981 season. In his tenure with the team, he was selected to the All-Star game twice and threw 2 no-hitters. He is a present member of the Royals’ Hall of Fame. Following the 1980 season, the Royals released him and he signed with the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of January 1981. This jersey was re-purposed for him, and he would later wear it during the pre-season, never to make the regular season squad. It is clear that the jersey had a different number on the back, as you can make out what could be a’9′ where the back 0 is now. There is a very faint outline of a different letter near the’S’ in Busby. The number and name change is done so well that you are not able to notice it unless you look very closely, and even so, you cannot make out the majority of it. The jersey is a 100% very heavy polyester v-neck pull-over, powder blue in color, with red white and navy blue accents in the neckline and along the sleeve endings. The front of the jersey features the iconic birds on bat Cardinals team logo, all applied to the jersey in chain stitch embroidery. Beneath the team logo is Busby’s #60 swen on in red bordered by navy blue twill material. The back contains the name “BUSBY” and a large #60, also sewn on in red bordered by navy blue twill material. Sewn behind this tag is a flag tag that reads Set 1 1979. The jersey shows good baseball use with the very hint of a name and number change but presents very well given its age and use. A very sought after style that would make a fantastic addition to any Cardinals fan’s collection — or even a rare piece add to the collection of a Steve Busby fan!!
