Very rare Rawlings professional 1970 Los Angeles Dodgers road flannel worn by rookie pitcher Doyle Alexander – his first major league jersey -and the last year for flannel in LA. A Dodgers first-round 1968 draft choice, he would be rostered with the’70 squad and make his debut in 1971, wearing this jersey. It features all correct tags, specs and identifiers for this era Dodgers road flannel including proper. Maker’s tag set in collar with. Chain-stitched in front left tail, with washing instructions and SET 1 #8P 1970 flag tag set below. Is sewn across front in blue felt with Alexander’s number ” 48 ” set below in bright red felt, and “48” also sewn on back, again in faded blue felt. Originally issued as a regular season road jersey, the Los Angeles moniker was later swapped out with updated Dodgers. This was standard procedure for Dodgers jerseys sent down to Vero Beach, spring training and minor league service, and definitely makes a more attractive display and representation. This luckily escaped the abuse and wear similar non-star jerseys would typically face down the road, as the Dodgers minor league system didn’t phase out flannel til’74. Otherwise, it’s complete and as-worn by Alexander, and a particularly tough flannel to find in this presentable condition.
