A. G. Spalding & Bros Vintage Baseball Uniform Jersey High Collar 1911 Antique
First of all, many thanks to. It’s worth your time to spend some time on this site! As for the uniform, you can see it is 05-06. One of the early photos shows the holes for the detachable sleeves which are NOT present – I have some pencils showing that. There are 2 holes in the front and 3 in the back that I saw. Both the top and the pants are’dingy’ from the many years of storage, as you should be able to see. The top measures about 23 across under the pits so 44+ size. It is 23 1/2″ from the collar down to the bottom of the back, which you can see is about 2 1/2″ longer than the front. The pants are about 17 1/2 across folded, so a waist of about 35. You can see the large vintage repaired hole, also has a couple of small ones on the front and one on the back. Each sleeve has 4 button hole openings for the long sleeves to attach to – wish I had them. Someone sewed a black attachment on the end of the pants to probably somehow help hold the socks up. The socks look like a perfect match, VERY heavy, but have no manufacturers tag. I have no idea what company E L & S is!! Also as for dating, I see the words “trade” and “mark” are straight across and block and look to me that this is a 11-13 era uniform – Once again, thanks for your help. For minor notes, It is a bit dingy and has a odor like something old, – looks like it was put away unwashed! So you may want to wash/dryclean. I have NO idea about which is best so I have not done that! Below is the site I referred to with different Spalding labels/ Thanks! 1914 – Late 1920s. There is also a black label version – each version says REG U. OFF under the circle. 1914 – late 1920s tag was. Not used prior to 1914. Any dating of a uniform with this tag prior to 1914 is incorrect. 1905 – 1906 and c. 1911 – 1913 tags. “Reg us pat off” on trade marks. First started to be used in late 1905 based on the Trade Mark Act of 1905 which stipulated that companies should start using”Reg. On their trade marks. That makes sense because every Spalding tag after 1905 has that on it, while before 1905 it is missing. Trade Mark Act of 1905. That it shall be the duty of the registrant to give notice to the public that a trade–mark is registered, either by affixing thereon the words”Registered in U. Patent Office,” or abbreviated thus,”Reg.” or when, from the character or size of the trade–mark, or from its manner of attachment to the article to which it is appropriated, this cannot be done, then by affixing a label containing a like notice to the package or receptacle wherein the article or articles are inclosed: and in any suit for infringement by a party failing so to give notice of registration no damages shall be recovered, except on proof that the defendant was duly noti? Ed of infringement and continued the same after such notice. The item “A. G. Spalding & Bros Vintage Baseball Uniform Jersey High Collar 1911 Antique” is in sale since Saturday, January 14, 2017.
