2 Nellie Fox Very Early Game Used Wool Chicago White Sox Under Jerseys 1 Lot
From my Private Collection. I have (2) Two, Game Used, 3/4 sleeve length Under Jerseys that Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, 1959 American League MVP, and ALL-STAR Second Baseman Nellie Fox wore while playing for the Chicago White Sox during the early 1950’s. One of the jerseys is a “wool” Wilson jersey and the other is, what I believe is a cotton or light wool Spalding jersey. These two jerseys are in really good shape: considering the constant daily wear and tear of a hard playing second baseman. The jerseys show body sweat stains and are identified, written in Nellie’s own hand “FOX”. One of the jerseys also has a handwritten, but comical “Nellie style”; at the bottom of the backside of the jersey the term, “SHIT FOX”. We have, through the years been very good friends with the Fox Family; with Family picnics, local baseball games, house visits, and hunting with Nellie and his dad up on Nellie’s hunting ground. THESE ARE AUTHENTIC GAME UNDER JERSEYS THAT NELLIE FOX WORE UNDER HIS CHICAGO WHITE SOX UNIFORM. PHOTOS IN JERSEY DESCRIPTION PHOTOS, ARE “NOT” FOR SALE YET.. Chicago Cubs HOME JERSEY #21 Early 80s Game Worn Johnstone Randle
I entered the organized Hobby back in the early 1980s, just before it started to take off. These were the days before card shops started popping up. The 80s brought all types of new cards, from different companies, and I was hooked. Sometime in the mid-80s I bought this jersey from a reputable dealer, who presented this as having been worn by Jay Johnstone. I liked Johnstone from his days with the Dodgers, and even earlier when he played for the Angels. The uniform number was correct, as #21 was what he wore with both the Dodgers and Cubs. The dealer was honest to show me where the Clubhouse set tag had been removed, at the back neck, below the size tag. Of course the Cubs did not put names on the back of their jerseys. The jersey was solid, no tears, with only the shadow of a long tag and the odd loose threads around the area. The size tag has the Wilson name, something not found on concession pieces. So I bought it and put it away, waiting for a chance to run into Mr. Over the last 20+ years I tried doing more research on the jersey, and thats when I found that Johnstone wore a size 42 jersey, being over 6 tall. The jersey style is definitely early to mid 80s; pullover, no buttons. During that time period the #21 was only worn by Johnstone, Ty Waller, and Lenny Randle. Waller was in Chicago for one season and was pretty close to Johnstone in size. Only Randle was less than 6, so a size 40 made more sense. I never did anything with the jersey since my research, and Im not positive of my conclusion, so now I figure I might as well make it available to anyone who might want it more. To be clear, I have nothing to prove its authenticity, I cant be certain who might have worn it (since the clubhouse tag would have listed the year used), but I do know it is not some lightweight sport store jersey. Examine photos, ask questions and Ill try to answer. But the price should be fair for any jersey from this time period. Thank you for looking at my listing. 50 for each item, after the initial charge, for auctions closing within a 48-hour period. Antique Vintage Early 1900s Game Worn Baseball Jersey + Leather Belt & Glove
It is made of a wool material and shows good use. The jersey has a large embroidered emblem on the upper left side. There is no tag in the jersey but there is a label in the waistline of the pants. It states “James Brine Athletic Company College Outfitters Boston Massachusetts”. Much of the original grey jersey is of a brown (dirt) color due to its significant usage and age. On the backside there is a 4 inch section with a 3 – 4 brown reddish stain spots. The emblem on the frontside has a very small area that has some holes but otherwise it is intact. The jersey has no obvious holes or tears, it just looks dirty. It appears that it was not washed after its final use many many years ago. The jersey measures 29 inches long not including the collar. The wool pants have most of its original grey color intact on the backside but has the brown dirty color on the frontside, mainly at the top section and lower left leg. It has, what I assume to be, its original leather belt. I see no obvious holes or tears, the same as the jersey. The pants measures 28 inches long. It is well used and worn. The very top of one finger has been cut out. It is not a large glove and is very flat. It is just short of 10 inches when measured from the middle finger to the laced bottom. The only marking I see on the glove are the words “Genuine Horsehide” on the lower front. Whether or not you are interested in purchasing this uniform. I would appreciate you contacting me. If you know what team the jersey emblem represents. Thank you for looking at this. Early 1900’s Game Worn Baseball Uniform Attributed New York HIghlanders Yankees
Several pictures I have found online (pictured with listing) suggest similarities to Yankee uniforms circa 1912, their LAST YEAR PLAYING AS THE NEW YORK HIGHLANDERS & FIRST YEAR TO WEAR PINSTRIPES. Also notice sewn in sleeve extensions. Perhaps deserving of further research, but a great period PINSTRIPE uniform nonetheless. Early 1900’s Cmplt Baseball Uniform Rescued From Chicago White Sox Comiskey Park
Very rare early 1900’s complete wool baseball uniform rescued from the Chicago White Sox Comiskey Park. The uniform is complete and includes: baseball cap, jersey/shirt, pants and pair of socks – all are original. There’s no markings on the uniform that signifies it as an official Chicago White Sox outfit, but it does have the traditional pin stripes. I’m only guessing on this one but the uniform could have been used for practice, meant for a support person, or was in waiting to have patches and insignia sewn onto it?? I can only base it as related to the Chicago White Sox Team because of it being stored away in Comiskey Park. This uniform as well as the. Early 1900’s nickel plated baseball park vendor’s hand held hot dog that I. Rescued from the Chicago White Sox Comiskey Park before the 1991 demolition. Here’s the story behind that awesome pick. Way back in 1991 my father, who had many connections in the Chicago construction industry, got a lead on the tear down of the old Comiskey Park and the removal of the adjacent parking lot where the new park was going to be built. The actual lead came from his friend in the Chicago Streets & Sanitation District. This guy was known as Joe The Web. Even at this time there were still some remnants of the Chicago Family, aka mustaches, in many parts of Chicago politics and associated offices. Well, Joe The Web first turned us onto the parking lot removal. This was nice in itself since the parking lot was paved with centuries old granite street pavers from Europe, which were used as ballast on ships arriving in Chicago with goods from Europe. The goods as well as the ballast was unloaded at the docks in Chicago. They were then used as street pavers throughout Chicago and are. Next step was getting into the park itself. Joe introduced us to the demolition foreman, who for a small charge let us into the park. From that point it was heaven! We were able to obtain many of the architectural items of the park that were obvious to the eye. But what was really nice was getting into the storage rooms that held nearly 100 year old items. The gold mine was the storage rooms located under the bleachers. This is were the baseball uniform and hot dog steamer were found, as well as many other unique and desirable items too numerous to list here. Condition is excellent with the uniform/shirt showing no visible damage, the cap/hat has no damage, the pants are in very good shape with a few small holes on the front of the left leg (shown in detail in photos), the socks have a few minor snag holes mainly along the top area. I don’t know the official size of the uniform, but I’m 6 feet tall and have an athletic build and it fits me very snugly. Don’t pass up this great piece of Chicago White Sox baseball history. History of Comiskey Park. Comiskey Park was a ballpark in Chicago, Illinois, the home of the Chicago White Sox from 1910 through 1990. Built by owner Charles Comiskey and designed by Zachary Taylor Davis, it hosted four World Series and more than 6,000 Major League Baseball games. The field was also the site of the 1937 heavyweight title match in which Joe Louis defeated then champion James J. Braddock in eight rounds. The Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League also called Comiskey Park home when they weren’t playing at Normal Park or Soldier Field. The Cardinals won the 1947 NFL Championship Game over the Philadelphia Eagles at Comiskey Park. A new ballpark opened in 1991, across 35th Street and south of its predecessor, and Comiskey Park was demolished the same year. Originally also called Comiskey Park, it was renamed U. Cellular Field in 2003 and Guaranteed Rate Field in 2016. The item “Early 1900’s Cmplt Baseball Uniform Rescued From Chicago White Sox Comiskey Park” is in sale since Saturday, August 05, 2017.
