1979 Mike Vail Chicago Cubs Game Used Road Jersey. Beautiful powder blue, pinstriped knit is ALL-ORIGINAL with no alterations! Wilson size 42 tag in the neck with “27 79 2 42″ stitched swatch below. Also has “79” year smaller swatch in the bottom left tail & Cubby bear patch on the left sleeve. This is very likely the same jersey thta Vail is wearing on his 1980 Topps card… The pinstripes match up very nicely. Great use overall with what looks to be a small paint mark on the right sleeve(see pic below) and some light staining(possibly tobacco) on the front of the jersey between the 2 and the 7! Vail was a very promising rookie, in his first season in the Mets organization in 1975 he was named International League Player of the Year and when called up to the Mets that season he had a 23 game hitting streak(a rookie record)! Ultimately his time ran out with the Mets which led to Vail joining the Chicago Cubs from 1978-80 where he had his best 3 years in baseball. This jersey has been stowed away for many years and is fresh to the hobby! Comes with an LOA from Sports Investments Inc.
