Vintage original game used worn 1946 Notre Dame Football Baseball Letter Sweater

Original Notre Dame player Letter Monogram Sweater. This sweater is from the mid 1940s, 1946 and belonged to a baseball/basketball player for the Irish. This is a very rare sweater. An extremely rare original letter sweater in excellent condition. This sweater is in very nice condition. There are no moth holes or tears, rips, or burns in it – which is truly unbelieveable. Normally any sweater this old is all chewed up with holes, rips, and fading. The seeves and cuffs are excellent. The sweater was only worn for special events on campus. The logo is nice with tight stitching. There is one very small hole on the rear of the sweater. I have taken a couple photos of it – one a close up. The sweater has all of its buttons and they are all secured tightly with no loose stiching. The two pockets of the sweater are also in excellent condition with no sagging as seen on other athletic sweaters. The Sand Knit original neck tag is still on the sweater. The sweater could use a dry cleaning. Although in virtually perfect condition, I have not had it cleaned and it does have some spots. A very beautiful sweater, in almost mint condition, and 72 years old. Try and find one. This is an unaltered all original game worn jersey from Mark Williams of the Oakland Athletics. This heavy green knit jersey was manufactured by stall and Dean and distributed by Tim McAuliffe. The jersey is a man’s size 42. All tags are on the bottom front of the jersey. Mark Williams was a late September call up for the A’s in 1977 however the A’s used a spare blank jersey from 1975 for Williams. All numbers and letters are sewn on. The jersey shows moderate wear and washings. You would be hard pressed to find an original unaltered jersey like this. Williams was not a great player by any means but it’s the unaltered jersey style that is do appealing. This is also the only year that Capital Ace did not have a flag year tag and the NOB was on a patch and not sewn directly to the jersey. The navy pants belonged to pitcher Clay Carroll form 1976. Jerry Wayne Hairston (born February 16, 1952) is a former left fielder in Major League Baseball, and the father of Jerry Hairston Jr. During his 14-year career, Hairston specialized as a pinch hitter. Hairston played 14 seasons in the majors, mostly with the Chicago White Sox and part of one season with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also played three years (from 1978 to 1980) with Durango of the Mexican League. While playing in Mexico, Hairston won a batting title and twice represented Mexican League teams at the Caribbean Series. He is the son of yet another former major leaguer, Sam, and the brother of another, Johnny. The Hairston family is one of only three families (along with the Boone family and the Bell family) to have had three generations of major league players. 1961 Cleveland Indians #26 Game Worn Jersey. The Cleveland Indians were stuck in the middle of the standings in 1961 but they sure looked like champions. The team donned pinstripes in front of the home crowd and even had sleeve numbers so everyone could see their on-field exploits. This “Wilson size 44″ jersey was tagged for use in 1961 but nobody with that number took the field. Our guess is that the jersey was carried over and used in 1962 as Don Rudolph, Dave Tyriver and Bob Hartman all assumed the digits. “Indians” is expressed over the chest while the sleeves are accentuated with a team patch (right) and sleeve numbers (left). The reverse has “26” centered. A Wilson size tag is joined by a “1961” swatch in the tail. The jersey is original and has not been altered. This week, I will be listing a Wonderful Collection of Sports Memorabilia and Vintage Clothing, including lots of Baseball. This is a Great, Rare, Vintage Saint Louis Browns (Baltimore Orioles) MLB baseball uniform jersey. This wonderful Old piece has a Great, Vintage design, with embroidered trim, “Talon” zipper and sewn-on Wool felt letters & numbers, is made of Wool Flannel, marked Rawlings – St. Louis, an Original, Vintage example, from the 1950’s, and is Rare to Find. The Rawlings tag is an exact match for known Game-Used Brown’s jerseys from this era, therefore I believe this to be an Authentic, Team issued, Professional, Game Model jersey. This is marked Size 42, but actually measures approx. 23″ from armpit to armpit and 28″ from top to bottom. This appears to be in Good, Crisp condition, with some mothing on the lettering and some wear from game use, including two small holes on the back. The pride of Lockhart, Texas, Billy Grabarkewitz enjoyed a seven year Big League career. He was an all star in 1970. It’s not as much about Grabarkewitz as it is the gorgeous jersey. This may be one of the nicest jerseys I’ve come across. It’s all original with tagging, chenille logo and numbers. Please zoom in on all the pictures and check out the detail. Even the “P” on the front is in great detail showing the center to resemble the stitching of a baseball. The Phils dropped that unique feature from the logo later in that decade. The rear features the YUGE chenille numbers that preceded the club putting names on the back. I cannot say enough good things about this home top. Whoever buys this jersey is getting a winner!
